OpenAI tender offer reportedly still on - deadline extended

OpenAI is reportedly still allowing employees to sell shares to external investors despite recent leadership changes and board restructuring - and has extended the deadline for the process.

Led by Josh Kushner's Thrive Capital, the tender offer will reportedly be based on October's valuation of the $86 billion artificial intelligence (AI) company.

CEO Sam Altman's shock removal and reinstatement temporarily stalled the process.

Unlike issuing new equity, this tender offer involves investors purchasing existing shares, primarily from employees, providing them with liquidity.

The deadline has been extended to January 5, following the tumultuous period for OpenAI.
