Salesforce shares boosted as earnings top expectations

Salesforce.com, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) shares were up 9.5% to $252.20 in Thursday’s premarket after the enterprise software firm beat earnings expectations with its third-quarter results.

It posted adjusted earnings of $2.11 per share, above expectations of $2.05 per share and up 11% year over year, on revenue of $8.72 billion, in line with expectations.

Customer service revenue increased 12% year over year to $2.07 billion.

“We had another strong quarter of executing on our profitable growth plan we set in motion last year, delivering $8.7 billion in revenue and again raising our operating margin guidance for this fiscal year,” CEO Marc Benioff said in a statement.

Salesforce expects fourth-quarter revenue to rise 10% year over year to between $9.18 billion and $9.23 billion, compared to analyst expectations of $9.21 billion.
