EQTEC PLC (AIM:EQT) has secured a technical services agreement with Simonpietri Enterprises LLC (SEL), a US-based waste-to-energy development company, to provide engineering services and equipment for a plant in Kapolei, Hawaii.
The project aims to convert approximately 15,000 tonnes of wood waste per year into synthesis gas (syngas). This fuel will then be used to power a gas-fired boiler, generating steam to power a steam turbine.
The turbine is expected to produce up to 2MW of electrical power, which will be used in an organic fertilizer production facility and a demolition waste sorting and recycling operation.
The engineering contract is specifically for the gasification system at SEL's Sustainable Materials Recycling and Fertilizer Facility (SMRFF). The system will process various types of waste, including construction and demolition debris, landscaping waste, and invasive plant biomass.
EQTEC anticipates commencing basic engineering work by the end of 2023, with an expected invoice of US$180,000.
A subsequent front-end engineering design phase is projected to follow, with an anticipated invoice of an additional US$330,000.
EQTEC has also provided SEL with a comprehensive quotation of approximately €7 million for detailed engineering, equipment, construction advisory, and commissioning services, pending funding.
