Zscaler 1Q results ahead of expectations but fail to impress

Zscaler Inc. (NASDAQ:ZS) shares fell more than 6% in extended trading Monday despite beating Street expectations with its fiscal first-quarter results.

The cybersecurity company posted adjusted earnings of $0.67 per share, higher than the $0.49 per share expected by analysts. Revenue was $496.7 million, which also topped expectations of $473.4 million.

“We had a strong start to our fiscal year with all key metrics coming above our guidance,” CEO Jay Chaudhry said in a statement.

“We are enabling enterprises to move forward with their key transformative initiatives - Zero Trust and AI - which is driving demand for our Zero Trust Exchange. In order to meet this growing need, we are scaling our go-to-market and R&D organizations, strengthening our foundation for the long-term growth of our business.”

Looking ahead, Zscaler guided for fiscal second-quarter earnings of $0.57 to $0.58 per share and revenue of $505 million to $507 million.
