Neuralink has raised another $43 million in venture capital funds, according to an SEC filing.
The company, an Elon Musk vehicle developing implants that can read users’ brain waves, increased a previous tranche to $323 million from $280 million in August, according to the filing.
Some 32 investors participated, led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund.
Meanwhile, four members of the US House of Representatives are calling on the SEC to investigate the company over Elon Musk's statements regarding the welfare of animals used in the company’s experiments.
The SEC alleges that Musk made misleading claims about the deaths of 12 macaque monkeys used in research for the brain-chip interface company.
That followed a report from WIRED, which described animal welfare concerns at a primate center in California between 2018 and 2020.
Neuralink received FDA approval for human clinical trials in May, and in June the company was valued at roughly $5 billion, according to reporting from Reuters.
