Mounjaro outperforms Ozempic for weight loss in adults, study says

Eli Lilly and Co (NYSE:LLY)'s diabetes drug Mounjaro is more effective for weight loss than Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO)'s Ozempic in overweight or obese adults, a real-world analysis by Truveta Research reveals.

Patients on Mounjaro showed significantly higher chances of losing 5%, 10%, and 15% of body weight over three months, six months, and a year compared to those on Ozempic.

The study, encompassing around 18,000 adults, demonstrates Mounjaro's edge in a real-world setting, emphasizing its impact on patients who are overweight or obese. Notably, head-to-head clinical trials in this population are yet to be conducted.

Both drugs, though approved for Type 2 diabetes, are widely used off-label for weight loss, contributing to the surge in demand for such treatments in the US.

Both Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO) are yet to comment on the study's findings.
