Sigma Lithium Corp (TSX-V:SGML, NASDAQ:SGML) is getting ready to ship 22,000 tonnes of Triple Zero Green Lithium to Glencore at the Port of Vitoria, Brazil.
The loading process is scheduled to initiate during the week of November 27, the company said in a statement.
Under the terms of a commercial distribution and marketing agreement with Glencore, the global lithium producer is set to receive a 50% prepayment for the shipment. The prepayment reflects a provisional "premium" price, equivalent to 9% of the quoted LME lithium hydroxide price (average China, Japan, South Korea).
Sigma Lithium's Triple Zero Green Lithium is a result of innovative initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and establishing a sustainable supply chain for electric vehicles (EVs). Notable achievements include zero tailings through dry-stacked tailings and the elimination of hazardous chemicals in the processing of lithium, ensuring water and soil preservation in the Grota do Cirilo project region in Brazil.
The Greentech lithium plant, where Triple Zero Green Lithium is produced, stands as the world's first lithium project without a tailings dam. The plant utilizes 100% sewage water, recirculates water efficiently, and preserves the Piaui Creek as a source of drinking water for local communities. Furthermore, the plant operates on 100% clean renewable energy, contributing to a low-carbon production process.
Sigma plans to increase the use of biodiesel fuel in its trucking fleet to up to 50% by 2025. The company has also implemented strategies to decrease explosives load through computerized load simulations, minimizing environmental impact.
To offset its low carbon content, Sigma Lithium has purchased carbon credits from Carbonext, verified through the Verra Verified Carbon Standard, ensuring that the shipment of Triple Zero Green Lithium is carbon neutral.
