NextSource Materials Inc. (TSX:NEXT, OTCQB:NSRCF) announced that it has appointed Johnny Velozza as its interim chief operating officer (COO) following the resignation of Robin Borley.
The company said Velozza brings a wealth of technical and operating experience from the past 30 years in the mining industry to the position, including the management of operational optimization processes and large capital expansions across a range of jurisdictions.
He has previously held the positions of deputy CEO and COO at Gem Diamonds, CEO at Chemaf, various positions at BHP, operations manager at AngloGold Ashanti (ASX:AGG), and managerial roles at De Beers.
"I am delighted Johnny has agreed to join NextSource as COO where he will drive the implemention of recommendations made to resolve process issues that have delayed bringing the plant at the Molo mine to its nameplate capacity,” NextSource CEO Craig Sherba said in a statement.
“I would like to thank Robin for his contributions to NextSource."
The company noted that Borley has also resigned as a director from the company and will not be standing for re-election at its upcoming NextSource shareholders’ meeting.
Toronto-based NextSource is a battery materials development company intent on becoming a vertically integrated global supplier of battery materials through the mining and value-added processing of graphite and other materials.
Its Molo graphite project in Madagascar is one of the largest known and highest-quality graphite resources globally, and the only one with SuperFlake graphite.
