The Afterhours — Huawei spinoff Honor plans IPO; GM's Cruise driverless taxis will return

Honor, a smartphone company spun off from the Chinese tech titan Huawei, has announced its intention to go public.

The company did not specify what country it would list in.

“In order to meet new strategic goals, Honor will continue to optimize its shareholding structure, attract diversified capital, and enter into the capital market through IPO (initial public offering),” the company said in a statement.

Meanwhile, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) said it plans to relaunch its Cruise robotaxi division in a single city, just one week after announcing it would pause all on-road vehicle operations due to multiple incidents.

"Once we have taken steps to improve our safety culture and rebuild trust, our strategy is to re-launch in one city and prove our performance there, before expanding," the company said in a statement.
