Royal Road Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:RYR, OTC:RRDMF) announced that initial scout drilling, regional sampling and mapping at its Santo Domingo porphyry copper and gold project in Argentina has identified a promising mineralized system.
The company said initial scout drilling has identified the depth potential at the El Arriero breccia-controlled, dyke-dominated, porphyry copper-molybdenum system and has highlighted the stark difference between El Arriero and the broader, surrounding copper-gold porphyry style mineralization.
It said mapping and sampling confirmed that the broader copper-gold porphyry system is represented by variably exposed magnetite matrix breccias, quartz-magnetite veinlets and sheeted veinlets related to porphyry dykes.
Rock chip samples returned up to 3.6% copper and 86.8 grams per ton (g/t) gold and channel samples returned best results of 20 metres at 1.2 g/t.
Additionally, regional mapping and rock chip sampling showed that the copper-gold porphyry system expands outwards to the east to the Yvette polymetallic vein network, a curvilinear brittle shear-controlled zone of 3 kilometres strike length and 180 meters aggregate width where rock-sampling has returned results up to 115.7 g/t gold, 1,967 parts per million of silver, 1% copper, and 17.4% zinc.
"This new work has identified a porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum mineralized system at Santo Domingo of unknown extent and with complex overprinting and vertical preservation relationships," Royal Road CEO Dr. Tim Coughlin said in a statement.
"The next step is obviously airborne geophysics focused particularly on identifying new drill objectives in the copper-gold part of the system, exploring potential for a deeper more coherent porphyry copper-molybdenum body at El Arriero and mapping out the broader shear-zone control to high-grade polymetallic veins at Yvette."
