TC Energy said the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved, with bipartisan support, the Virginia Reliability Project.
The company said the project will create more than 3,500 jobs and generate over $500 million in economic output in a growing and critically important part of the state.
Columbia Gas Transmission’s (TCO) Virginia Reliability Project (VRP) is an expansion and reliability project that will replace two existing segments of the TCO pipeline system to continue reliable and abundant natural gas supply.
Owned by TC Energy, TCO has been providing energy to the Hampton Roads region for more than 70 years, and as demand for natural gas rises across the region alongside the region’s rapid growth and development, these important updates will improve natural gas reliability and help meet the current and future needs of the Hampton Roads region.
“The Virginia Reliability Project will make energy more reliable and contribute to affordable energy prices for residents and businesses in the Hampton Roads region,” TC Energy said in a statement.
“That’s why the project has received such strong support from community leaders and organizations throughout the state. We appreciate FERC’s action today to approve the project and will work diligently to place it into service as soon as possible,” the company added.
