Active Energy to broaden US production network

Active Energy Group PLC (AIM:AEG, OTCQB:ATGVF) has announced that a broader production network is being sought in the US after further delays have struck the biomass energy firm’s plant at Ashland, Maine.

Partner Player Design Inc informed Active of continuing construction and engineering delays at the Ashland facility over the weekend, meaning production of the latter’s CoalSwitch fuel will not begin there as expected in November.

This adds to delays already seen at the site, which Active Energy said could now begin commercial operations in the first quarter of 2024.

Active added in a statement that a broader US production network would help it meet projected demand for CoalSwitch fuel, while reducing reliance on a single production partner.

“We are frustrated that the Ashland facility has not met the time deadlines, previously agreed with Partner Design Inc,” chief executed Michael Rowan said.

“But, we remain invigorated from the positive feedback that our new US management team is receiving to establish alternative production centres elsewhere [...] with alternative production and engineering partners."

CoalSwitch is an alternative to coal, which can be either blended with the fossil fuel, or used to replace it entirely.

“With the immediate opportunities before Active Energy for CoalSwitch sales, I am confident in the future for the company's business,” Rowan added.
