World Copper chairman Hendrik van Alphen becomes interim CEO

World Copper Ltd (TSX-V:WCU, OTCQX:WCUFF) is getting a new CEO.

The company announced Friday that outgoing CEO Nolan Peterson has stepped down to pursue other opportunities.

In the meantime, the junior copper company has appointed Hendrik van Alphen, the current chairman of the board, as the interim chief executive officer and president.

van Alphen brings a wealth of experience to the role and expressed optimism about steering the company through challenging market conditions.

"I am glad to take on the role of interim CEO as we retrench the company in this current difficult market to set the stage for new permanent leadership and new corporate development,” van Alphen said in a statement.

“While there are many short-term headwinds presently, the business case for copper is as strong as ever, and World Copper has great assets to capitalize on the long-term upward trend.”

World Copper will initiate a search for a permanent CEO.

The board and management express gratitude to Peterson for his contributions, it said in a statement.
