United States President Joe Biden on Thursday signed a short-term government funding bill, avoiding a potential government shutdown until the new year.
The President’s approval comes a day after the Senate approved the stop-gap spending bill 87 to 11, with 10 Republicans and one Democrat opposing the legislation.
It funds four federal agencies until January 19, 2024, prioritizing military construction, veterans’ affairs, transportation, housing and energy.
The remaining agencies are funded until February 2, 2023, to provide additional time for Congress to negotiate long-term spending bills.
It notably does not include an aid package for Israel and Ukraine, which Democrats again conceded to get the legislation through.
Without the bill, government funding would have run out late on Friday.
