Japan Gold kicks off second round of drilling at Barrick Alliance Mizobe project

Japan Gold (TSX-V:JG) announced that it has started a second round of drilling at its Barrick Alliance Mizobe project in southern Kyushu in Japan, after the results of an in-fill drill hole MZDD23-003 expanded the mineralization identified in the initial drill program earlier to 144 metres at 0.7 grams per ton (g/t) gold and 2.1 g/t silver from 47 metres.

"The wide mineralized interval in MZDD23-003 provided a very compelling result, given the thin post-mineral ash concealment and that it was located a kilometre from the nearest drill hole,” Japan Gold (TSX-V:JG) Vice President Exploration Andrew Rowe said.

The company said an additional four drill holes totalling about 1,000 metres are in progress to test extensions of the largely concealed mineralized system.

"MZDD23-004, currently being drilled 500 metres to the south of MZDD23-003, is also providing additional encouragement as immediately below the shallow ash cover, drilling has encountered a 30-metre down-hole length of intensely altered breccia hosting abundant sulphide and numerous banded carbonate-quartz veins, some with ginguro-sulphide banding,” Rowe said.

“This intensity of alteration and veining was not seen in MZDD23-003 and bodes very well for the tenor of gold mineralization in the current drill hole. The team is very excited by the current visual results given the system is open and untested in multiple directions."

The drill program is expected to be completed in December with results to follow in the first quarter of 2024.

Japan Gold (TSX-V:JG) is a Canadian mineral exploration company focused solely on gold exploration across the three largest islands of Japan: Hokkaido, Honshu, and Kyushu.

Through its partnership with Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX, NYSE:GOLD), known as the Barrick Alliance, the two companies are jointly exploring, developing and mining certain old mineral properties and mining projects with the potential to host Tier 1 or Tier 2 gold ore bodies.
