Elon Musk and SpaceX have gotten the green light from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to launch the company’s Starship rocket for the second time.
The company plans to move forward with the launch at 8 am ET on Friday, according to a post on X. A webcast will begin 30 minutes before lift-off, the company said.

SpaceX’s first Starship launch came in April, and, while it did reach certain technical milestones for a rocket of its size, the rocket exploded just minutes into its flight.
The 400-foot rocket’s explosion triggered an environmental review from the FAA and the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).
On Wednesday, the FWS found that the April launch did not cause long-term damage to the surrounding ecosystem, which led the FAA to announce in a statement that SpaceX “met all safety, environmental, policy and financial responsibility requirements.”
