Nike names new chiefs of design and innovation in brand shakeup

Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) has made a pair of changes to its executive team in an effort to enhance its brand appeal, the company announced.

The shoe and apparel group named John Hoke, a Nike employee of three decades and its first chief design officer, to the position of chief innovation officer.

Hoke, along with Nike president of Innovation Tom Clarke, will work to "amplify and accelerate Nike's innovation strategy and distinction," according to a statement.

Hoke will be succeeded by Martin Lotti, another veteran of Nike. In his new role, Lotti will "oversee all aspects of Nike design, from footwear and apparel to brand and retail concepts," the company said.

Both moves are effective immediately.

Shares of Nike improved 1.5% Tuesday to $105.75.
