Boeing delivers 34 aircraft during October with year-end targets in its sights

Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) delivered 34 airplanes during October, according to new data published on Tuesday by the airplane manufacturer.

This included 18 737 MAX jets, a military version of the 737, six 787 Dreamliners, six 767s and three 777 cargo planes to a range of customers including the U.S. Navy, Air India, Alaska Airlines, FedEx (NYSE:FDX) Express, Ryanair, Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) and United Airlines.

In the year-to-date, Boeing has delivered 405 aircraft, including 305 737s and 56 787s.

The plane maker needs to ramp up its production efforts to meet its delivery guidance for the year of 375 to 400 737s and 70 to 80 787s.

Before the release of its third quarter financial results in late October, Boeing had been expecting to deliver more 737s, targeting 400 to 450 deliveries by the year-end.

Boeing said in October it is transitioning to the production of five 787 planes per month instead of four, with plans to increase to 10 per month by 2025/2026.

It anticipates production of 38 737s per month by the year-end, ramping up to 50 per month by 2025/2026.

Boeing shares traded higher on Tuesday after it announced a spate of purchase orders in recent days, including orders from Emirates for 90 777X airplanes and from Ethiopian Airlines for 11 787s and 20 737s.

The stock was up 1.6% at US$207.78 and has gained 8.6% week-over-week.
