Internal data allegedly from commercial and defence aerospace manufacturer The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) was published online on Friday by LockBit after a ransom was not paid to the cybercriminal gang.
According to a post on LockBit’s website, the data was published in the early hours of Friday morning.
The files allegedly include the names, locations, and phone numbers of Boeing’s suppliers and distributors, financial details, and internal training materials.
Boeing said in a statement on Friday that “elements” of its parts and distribution business had experienced a “cybersecurity incident”.
"We are aware that, in connection with this incident, a criminal ransomware actor has released information it alleges to have taken from our systems," Boeing said.
"We continue to investigate the incident and will remain in contact with law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and potentially impacted parties, as appropriate."
It declined to comment on whether sensitive data had been obtained by LockBit but said it “remains confident” there is no threat to aircraft or flight safety.
Boeing shares traded 1.5% higher at US$196.35 in early trade on Friday.
