EV maker Polestar has announced plans to start the production of its fully electric vehicles at Renault's facility in Busan, South Korea.
This development, set to commence in the second half of 2025, follows a collaborative agreement involving Polestar, Renault and the Geely Group.
The announcement, made late Thursday, indicates that the Polestar 4 model will be manufactured at the Renault Korea Motors plant, a joint venture between Renault, Geely and Samsung.
The production at this site will cater to both the North American and South Korean markets. However, the financial specifics of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Polestar views this deal as a strategic expansion of its manufacturing base, complementing its existing plans to produce the Polestar 4 model in Hangzhou Bay, China.
The introduction of the Polestar 4 at the Busan plant marks the facility's first venture into the production of fully electric cars.
Polestar is owned by Volvo and Geely.
