Helium One faces temporary setback in Tanzania

Tanzania-focused Helium One Global Ltd (AIM:HE1, OTCQB:HLOGF) has announced a temporary halt in its Tai-3 drilling operation due to technical difficulties.

The company's Epiroc Predator 220 drilling rig encountered a malfunction in its hydraulic system, impacting the performance of the iron roughneck mechanism, both of which are essential for the rig's operation.

This mechanical issue has led to an inability to extract the drill string from the borehole, subsequently delaying the planned wireline operations. Despite these challenges, the company assures that the wellbore's stability is maintained, with the drill pipe still operational for rotation and fluid circulation.

Before this setback, Tai-3 drilling results were promising, showing helium concentrations up to six times higher than background levels at various depths, with an increasing trend in frequency and quality.

"Whilst this delay is frustrating not only for the team but also for our shareholders, we are hugely encouraged by the initial results from Tai-3 and are looking forward to a full and positive well evaluation as soon as this issue is resolved," said Helium One CEO, Lorna Blaisse.
