Microsoft unveils Copilot AI for Windows 11 with Bing and Dall-E integrations

In an ambitious stride toward integrating artificial intelligence into daily computing, Microsoft has introduced Copilot, a generative AI assistant, into Windows 11, replete with Bing and Dall-E capabilities.

Copilot, designed to bolster creativity and productivity, mirrors the conversational abilities of Bing's AI chatbot, adept at generating a broad spectrum of content from travel recommendations to poetry.

Users can activate Copilot by ensuring they have the latest Windows 11 update and can access it via a taskbar button, a keyboard shortcut (Win+C), or the Start menu.

Text and image generation

With a focus on both text and image generation, Copilot allows users to select from varying conversation styles - Creative, Balanced or Precise - akin to Bing Chat.

Microsoft's integration of Dall-E provides Copilot with the ability to craft images upon request.

Users are presented with options and can further refine their visual prompts, demonstrating the tool's adaptability and creative potential.

Beyond text, Copilot employs its internet connectivity, drawing on Bing's vast data resources, to furnish information complete with source links, encompassing topics from tourism to culinary advice and do-it-yourself home repairs.

Distinct from Bing Chat's web application, Copilot's true novelty lies in its seamless integration with the Windows 11 OS, enabling it to perform fundamental operations such as launching apps and responding to voice commands.

More robust AI integration

The early preview version of Copilot exhibits Microsoft's commitment to expanding AI interaction, allowing the assistant to provide program usage assistance and execute Windows 11 commands.

Though currently limited in its capability to manipulate within applications, settings such as 'do not disturb' and 'dark mode' are accessible through Copilot, signifying the first steps towards a more robust AI integration within Microsoft's ecosystem.
