Good morning from London where the FTSE 100 has hit fresh fortnight highs to round out a week that may be seen as the beginning of the end of the inflation crisis.
The US Federal Reserve and the Bank of England have both held rates this week, but there’s been plenty else going on - FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was found guilty of fraud and money laundering in New York. Following a month-long trial, Bankman-Fried was found to have stolen millions in funds from the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange and can expect a long stretch when he’s sentenced in March.
Back here in the UK, FTSE 250-listed Currys PLC (LSE:CURY) has announced a sale had been agreed for its Greek and Cypriot business Kotsovolos, sending shares higher.
Shares in building material retailer Wickes Group PLC (LSE:WIX) have had a less positive start to the day meanwhile, after the firm announced a slight dip in third quarter sales.
And back across the Atlantic Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) delivered a mixed Q3 update, announcing iPhone sales had hit a new record during the three months to the end of September but that sales of Macs and iPads are lagging behind.
