Shanta Gold Ltd (AIM:SHG, OTC:SAAGF) hailed the presence of visible gold from most assays drilled at its West Kenya project, in the first update since drilling restarted in May.
"We continue to believe that the drilling results delivered at West Kenya demonstrate that this project has the potential to become one of Africa's next quality, high-grade gold mines," said chief executive Eric Zurrin.
From 15 drill holes, 4,421 meters of assays were reported as the company looks to convert inferred resources to indicated status.
There was visible gold identified in five intersections from nine holes drilled at Isulu and Bushiangala, as well as at the six holes drilled at Ramula.
Highlights included one Isulu hole with 27.93 grammes of gold (Au) per tonne of earth over 3.7 metres, including 107.00 g/t over 0.8m; Bushiangala's best being 13.17 g/t over 0.6m; and a Ramula hole presenting 8.9m at 5.62 g/t, including a high-grade interval of 0.6m at 71.07 g/t.
Last year at West Kenya, the resources were upgraded at Isulu and Bushiangala to 1.29 million ounces grading 10.60 g/t Au, of which 721,900 ounces grading 11.45 g/t Au was upgraded to the indicated category.
At Ramula, resources were upped to 469,800 oz grading 2.41 g/t Au, including 416,700 ounces grading 2.43 g/t.
