The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) has officially launched its new ad-supported Disney+ streaming subscription tier in the UK, offering viewers a more affordable way to access the platform's vast content library, albeit with intermittent adverts during its TV shows and movies.
Priced at £4.99, the ad-supported tier is notably cheaper than its ad-free counterparts, though it comes with limitations.
Subscribers can stream on two devices simultaneously but won't have the option to download content.
For those who prefer an uninterrupted viewing experience, Disney+ continues to offer its standard ad-free package at £7.99 per month or £79.90 annually, giving the same audio and video quality as the ad-supported tier but allows content downloads on up to 10 devices.
Disney’s existing plan, which will now be called Premium, in which you get ad-free viewing on four devices in 4K and downloadable content on four devices, will jump from £7.99 a month to £10.99 a month.

Disney+ has an exhaustive catalogue of Star Wars and Marvel original content, alongside live-action remakes of beloved Disney classics that have attracted mixed reviews.
Other streaming sites have also hiked their prices recently, with Apple TV+ jumping from £6.99 a month to £8.99 a month.
In October, Netflix bumped up its Premium subscription price by £2 to £17.99 a month, or an additional £24 per year.
