Caesars Entertainment shrugs off hacking attempt in September to post 3Q earnings beat

Caesars Entertainment Inc saw its earnings per share and revenue surpass estimates during 3Q off the back of pent-up demand.

There was a collective sigh of relief from investors concerned about the potential impact of Russian hacking group known as Scattered Spider, which targeted Caesars and MGM Resorts in September 2023.

Caesars paid the group tens of millions after its members breached an outside IT vendor, gained access to the company’s network and threatened to release its data, according to reports.

The casino and resort operator company revealed net income of $74 million, equivalent to $0.34 per share on revenue of $2.99 billion for the period.

Analysts were expecting revenue of around $2.91 billion on earnings of $0.27 per share.

Shares of Caesars inched 0.3% higher after the bell Tuesday at $39.89.
