Eli Lilly diabetes drug Mounjaro will be in focus when the drugmaker reports earnings next week

Eli Lilly and Co (NYSE:LLY) is scheduled to report earnings before the market opens on Thursday, with analysts expecting revenue growth but an earnings decline.

The drugmaker is expected to post a third-quarter adjusted loss of $0.15 per share on revenue of $8.95 billion, compared to earnings of $1.61 per share on revenue of $6.94 billion a year earlier.

The top line will be impacted by sales of the company’s key drugs, including Taltz, Verzenio, Olumiant, Jardiance and Emgality.

Then there’s its diabetes drug Mounjaro, which has been in focus as weight loss treatments like Ozempic and Wegovy have skyrocketed in popularity. Mounjaro saw sales of $1.55 billion in the first half of 2023.

However, despite high sales volumes, Eli Lilly has seen some delays in fulfilling Mounjaro orders, according to reports.

Shares of Eli Lilly fell 1.3% Friday afternoon to $560.92.
