Wilko products are set to grace the shelves of Britain’s high streets once again under plans drawn up by the new owner of its brand, website and intellectual property: The Range.
Having collapsed into administration earlier this year, Wilko shut the doors of its final store in October after almost 100 years of operations in the UK.
However, following auctioning of the homeware firm’s assets by administrator PwC, new owner of the Wilko name, The Range, is set to start stocking its products come Friday.
“Wilko is a much-loved and trusted UK brand and it was important to us to allow it to live on,” chief executive of The Range, Alex Simpkin, commented.
“We noticed Wilko customers were really disappointed to see stores closed, especially when it seemed they would no longer be able to buy their favourite products.”
The Range, which rivalled Wilko as a retailer of homeware products, purchased the collapsed chain’s intellectual property in a £5 million deal with PwC.
Wilko-branded branded home, garden, pet and lifestyle products will return appear in The Range’s 210 stores over the coming weeks as a result, alongside reappearing online.
Some Wilko stores have reopened under new branding meanwhile, following Poundland owner Pepco’s purchase of up to 71 of the collapsed firm’s sites.
