Hapbee taps former NBA player Jose Manuel Calderon as global brand ambassador

Hapbee Technologies Inc (TSX-V:HAPB, OTCQB:HAPBF) announced that it has added 14-year National Basketball Association (NBA) veteran Jose Manuel Calderon to the company as a global brand ambassador.

The company said Calderon will focus on introducing the Hapbee brand to active and retired athletes, coaches, trainers, and his fans and followers.

As an active investor, entrepreneur, and co-founder of sports technology company Owqlo, Calderon is also taking an equity position as an investor in the company, Hapbee said.

"Adding an athlete of Jose's calibre as an ambassador, adviser and also an investor speaks volumes to people who are just learning about Hapbee for the first time," Hapbee CEO Yona Shtern said in a statement.

"His experience along with his extensive network and his stellar reputation will bring immense value in terms of raising Hapbee's brand profile globally as a leading wellness solution."

Calderon said both as a player and as a player-advocate with the NBA Players Association, he has a deep appreciation of the importance of wellness both during and after a professional playing career.

"The ability to optimize performance and recovery using Hapbee without the harmful effects of stimulants represents a breakthrough for all people – not just athletes. I am excited about joining the team and being a part of Hapbee's growth moving forward," he said.

The company noted that this announcement coincided with the launch of Hapbee’s Smart Sleep product at 104 Target stores across the United States and on Target.com.

Further, the company said it has partially closed a non-brokered private placement for gross proceeds of C$303,087 which will be used for product development, manufacturing, business development, working capital, and general corporate purposes.

It issued 3,788,587 units at a price of C$0.08 per unit. This consisted of the issuance of 3,788,587 subordinate voting shares and 3,788,587 warrants, with each warrant entitling the holder to acquire a share at a price of C$0.15 for a period of two years from the offering’s closing date, subject to certain conditions.

Its stock surged on the news, adding 37.5% at US$0.05 late morning on Thursday.

Hapbee is a digital wellness technology company that aims to help people take control of how they sleep, perform, and feel.

Its digital wellness library of Wellness Routines utilizes patented ultra-low radio frequency energy (ulRFE), designed to help optimize users’ sleep, productivity and focus, recovery, and downtime.
