Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is increasing the prices of several of its services in the United States and some other countries, including its streaming platform Apple TV+ which will go from US$6.99 per month to $US9.99 per month.
An annual subscription will now cost US$99, up from US$69.
Apple Arcade is increasing from US$4.99 to US$6.99 and Apple News+ is increasing from US$9.99 to US$12.99 monthly.
Apple One bundles, which include some of these services, are also becoming more expensive. An Individual bundle will cost US$19.95 instead of US$16.95, a Family bundle will be priced at US$25.95 per month up from US$22.95, and a Premier bundle will cost US$37.95 instead of US$32.95.
Apple Music, Apple Fitness+ and iCloud Plus are exempt from the price increases.
“We are focused on delivering the best experiences possible for our customers by consistently adding high-quality entertainment, content, and innovative features to our services,” Apple said in a statement.
“Since launching four years ago, Apple TV+ has made history for streaming services by crossing major milestones in a short span of time, thanks to its extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment.”
The price increases take effect immediately for new subscribers and 30 days from today for existing subscribers on the next renewal date after that grace period.
Apple is the latest streaming service provider to raise its prices following in the footsteps of Netflix earlier this month. Peacock, Disney+, Hulu, Paramount, Discovery+ and Max have all increased their prices this year.
