Porsche reports higher sales as global car market looks solid

Porsche AG (ETR:P911) has pointed to positive developments across the global car market as it laid out strong sales growth and profitability for the first nine months of the year.

Shortages and disruptions in global supply chains that were affecting production at the start of the year have now eased, the company said in a statement.

Availability of intermediate products and semiconductors has recently increased “significantly” as a result, positively affecting production, Porsche said.

Porsche scored a 12.6% jump in sales to €30.1 billion over the nine months to September, while operating profit rose by 9.0% to €5.5 billion.

This follows strong demand in Europe as new car registrations have jumped this year, the company continued.

Registrations in the US have increased significantly too, while those in China rose less drastically.

Deliveries for the year so far increased by 9.6% to 242,722, Porsche added, though margins decreased slightly from 18.9% to 18.3%.

“One year after making its globally acclaimed stock market debut [...] Porsche looks back on a successful first year as a listed company,” the company commented.

Shares climbed 2.65% to €89.20.
