Visa shares slip despite significant 4Q earnings bump

Visa Inc (NYSE:V) shares declined 0.7% in extended trading Tuesday after the credit giant posted third-quarter results that exceeded analyst expectations.

The company reported adjusted earnings of $2.33 per share, up 21% year-over-year and above analyst expectations of $2.13 per share. Revenue climbed 11% year-over-year to $8.6 billion, topping expectations of $8.12 billion.

Payment volume increased 9% year-over-year, and processed transactions improved 10%.

“Throughout the year, we have seen resilient consumer spending, ongoing recovery of cross-border travel spend versus 2019 and continued growth across our new flows and value-added services businesses,” CEO Ryan McInerney said in a statement.
