Middle East impact the focus in British Airways owner's update

Middle East concerns will weigh heavily on British Airways owner IAG’s third-quarter numbers next week.

Rival transatlantic carrier United Airlines has already warned about the impact of flights to Tel Aviv being suspended, while the recent increase in tensions has put serious question marks over travel to holiday destinations such as Egypt and Morocco.

Higher fuel prices as crude rises are another concern.

IAG’s third quarter will not reflect this uncertainty and so should still be healthy enough with Peel Hunt expecting revenues €8.4 billion, up 15%, underlying profits of €1.55bn and pre-tax profits of €1.3bn.

The update is due on Friday, 27 October.
