Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is letting go of another 150 workers at a Detroit area plant.
That means Ford has now laid off over 2,730 workers due to the ongoing UAW strike.
The latest layoffs have afftected the Sterling Axle plant in the Detroit metropolitan area, according to reports.
Ford explained that the UAW's strategic, targeted strike approach, which has hit the Kentucky Truck Plant, is causing secondary effects on facilities not directly involved in the work stoppage.
The strike, involving approximately 34,000 autoworkers at Ford, GM, and Stellantis NV (NYSE:STLA, EPA:STLA), is being executed under a targeted strategy, with select facilities being taken out as deemed necessary by the union's leadership.
The strike at the Kentucky Truck Plant is directly affecting some operations at the Sterling Axle Plant, Ford said. As a result, the Sterling Axle Plant, located in Sterling Heights, is compelled to reduce its production of parts usually destined for the Kentucky Truck Plant, leading to the layoffs.
Ford shares were down 2% on Thursday afternoon at $11.52.
