IQ-AI higlights use of subsidiary's software in brain cancer study

IQ-AI Ltd (LSE:IQAI, OTCQB:IQAIF) has highlighted a new study into a rare form of brain cancer that used subsidiary Imaging Biometric’s dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) software.

Published in Nature Communications, the study represented the first large-scale characterization of the invasive tumour margins of high-grade glioma (HGG) using multi-regional genomic/transcriptomic sequencing with spatially matched MRI measurements.

High-grade glioma (HGG) is a deadly brain cancer that often recurs after surgery, due to the presence of residual tumour cells in the invasive margins of the tumour that are often not surgically removed.

These tumour cells are often invisible on standard imaging and may be hard to access and sample during surgery.

Researchers at Mayo Clinic in Arizona used non-invasive imaging to characterize the invasive margins.

The study found that the invasive tumour margins contain biologically distinct genetic and molecular alterations that not only underlie aggressive behaviour and disease recurrence but also give insights into potentially new susceptibilities to treatment that could improve future outcomes.

"This is yet another application of IB Neuro's impact on the care of brain cancer patients," said Trevor Brown, IQ-AI’s chief executive.

"Our collaborators continue to use IB Software to advance our understanding and ultimately improve outcomes," Brown added.
