Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) said it has unearthed multiple indications of high-grade copper from sampling at its Aurelia target at Especularita in Chile.
The junior took 76 rock chip assay results with grades up to 6.76% copper and 17 above 1%.
Samples from local artisanal mines have graded up to 7.33% copper, it said, adding the prospect is less than 12km from Pucobre's El Espino deposit.
Sam Garrett, chief executive, added: "Our boots-on-ground exploration at Aurelia has delivered yet another high-grade copper target into our prospect pipeline at Especularita.
“Being a replacement-type deposit, the Aurelia prospect further highlights the optionality in deposit style that the Especularita project enjoys as a whole.
“High copper grades and potential for scale combine to make this a very exciting target."
Aurelia is now the fourth potential drill target at Especularita, Great Southern added, with drilling expected to commence soon at the Abundante and Teresita prospects.
