Interactive Brokers 3Q financial results beat estimates as customer accounts climb

Interactive Brokers Group after Tuesday’s close reported third-quarter adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.55, up from $1.08 a year earlier and better than the $1.51 analyst consensus forecast.

The company, which through its affiliates provides automated trade execution and custody of securities, commodities and foreign exchange on over 150 markets, generated revenue for the period of $1.14 billion, an improvement from $847 million a year ago while also edging past expectations of $1.11 billion.

During the quarter, Interactive Brokers saw its customer accounts increase 21% to 2.43 million, while customer margin loans rose 8% to $43.6 billion.

As well, its net interest income during the period surged 55% to $733 million on higher benchmark interest rates and customer credit balance.

The company ended the quarter with total equity of $13.3 billion as of September 30, 2023.

Shares of Interactive Brokers were little changed in Tuesday’s after-hours session but have gained 21% year to date.
