Consensus suggests more US rate hikes to come - OptionsDesk

Consensus suggests more US rate hikes to come - OptionsDesk

OptionsDesk broker Rich Perry speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after what he describes as a "complacent" week in the world's markets, with volatilty easing after the systemic shock caused by the attacks on Israel last weekend.

Perry talks about some of the big financial stories of the week, highlighting the revelation that US inflation remains stubbornly high and may require yet another interest rate hike.

He suggests that the consensus in the market is that another hike has become the most likely outcome, following a period in which many had concluded that inflation was already coming well under control.

He also talks about the situation in the UK, where he says UK economic growth figures were broadly in line with expectations.

The week is rounding off on Friday with several big Q3 earnings calls in the US, including from JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, CityGroup, BlackRock and United Health.

He says the markets will be very keen to see how the banks are faring in the new higher interest rate environment.
