Shares in Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) finished at their highest closing levels in over 21 months last night ahead of an important third-quarter earnings season and as equity and bond markets recalibrate expectations for the US economy.
Facebook and Instagram owner Meta finished up 1.85% at US$327.79, while Google parent Alphabet closed 1.8% higher at US$140.55.
Meta stock is up over 260% from lows reached last November, having plunged from all-time highs two years ago above US$378, towards which it is inching again.
Not dissimilarly, Alphabet has recovered over 50% from its own lows almost a year ago, but is only 5% off its all-time highs of around US$149 from two years ago.
