Future Metals appoints Patrick Walta as executive chairman

Future Metals NL (ASX:FME, AIM:FME) said it intends to appoint Patrick Walta as executive chairman as the company continues the development of the Panton PGM project.

The appointment of Walta, a qualified metallurgist and mineral economist best known for his time at New Century Resources, will follow the annual shareholder meeting next month.

At New Century, Walta acquired and restarted Queensland's Century zinc mine, which became the 13th largest zinc producer in the world before it was sold to Sibanye-Stillwater earlier this year.

Justin Tremain, who will step down from the non-executive chairman role but remain on the board as the senior independent non-executive director, said the company is "delighted to have attracted someone of Patrick's calibre and experience to take on the role".

He said Walta is "a proven achiever, having previously led a company through project acquisition, development and into production".

Future Metals also announced the resignation of non-executive Allan Mulligan, who will step down following the AGM to focus on his other business interests.
