Great Southern Copper plans scout drilling after encouraging magnetics survey at Especularita

Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) said drilling is planned soon at high grade copper-gold prospects at its Especularita project in Chile after an “extremely encouraging” drone-magnetics survey.

Results from the 1,480 line-kilometres survey “provide additional impetus and clarity to the ongoing exploration programmes” at the project, the company said.

The survey has helped define the relationships between the dominant geology and alteration domains, while also clearly identifying the Teresita and Abundante prospects.

Chief executive Sam Garrett said the company plans to begin scout reverse circulation RC drilling “as soon as possible” at both prospects.

This will be targeting high-grade copper-gold seen in rock chip samples with grades up to 3.39% copper at Abundante and 13.7 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold and 7.22% copper at Teresita.

“The results of the magnetics survey have been very effective in assisting with our mapping and understanding of the geology at Especularita,” Garrett said.

“The correlation between magnetic anomalies and known mineralisation at prospects such as Abundante and Teresita is highly encouraging and will greatly benefit our on-going exploration by providing more targets for investigation.”
