GSK PLC (LSE:GSK, NYSE:GSK) has inked an exclusive three-year agreement worth £2.5 billion with the Chinese company Zhifei to co-promote its shingles vaccine in China.
With an option for extension, this strategic deal aims to significantly broaden the availability of Shingrix and accelerate patient access to the vaccine.
Starting 1 January, Zhifei will gain exclusive rights to import and distribute Shingrix in China.
Utilising its extensive service network, which encompasses over 30,000 vaccination points nationwide, Zhifei will focus on promoting the jab.
Concurrently, GSK, as the licence holder, will co-promote Shingrix by heightening awareness about the critical need for shingles vaccination among healthcare professionals in community health centres and hospitals.
As part of the tie-up, Zhifei has agreed to buy £2.5 billion worth of the vaccine over a three-year period.
