Infinity Lithium Corporation Ltd (ASX:INF) General Manager of Corporate Affairs Justin Samulski speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive London about the implications for the company's 75% owned San Jose Lithium Project of a decision announced this week by the Spanish Federal Constitutional Court.
The court ruled against provisions of a law introduced by the Regional Government of Extremadura that had been intended to support the development of lithium projects within the region. The law, ratified last October, mandated that all lithium extracted in Extremadura be processed within the region.
However, the court found certain clauses in the law to be unconstitutional and anti-competitive. Despite this, Samulski emphasises that the changes won't affect Infinity's strategy for the San Jose lithium project. The company remains committed to the region and plans to develop a conversion facility on-site.
Infinity's next steps include applying for PREMIA status, which could unlock regional funding opportunities. They will continue collaborating with regional stakeholders to ensure the project's successful delivery.
