Ceres Power Holdings PLC (LSE:CWR, OTC:CPWHF) published its second annual sustainability report today, where it said that alongside the role its technology plays in enabling industries to decarbonise, it also aims to act sustainably within its own business.
For example, it is creating a net zero strategy based on the science-based targets initiative (SBTi), setting near-term emissions intensity targets, and also a Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report including an initial review of physical and transition risk reporting.
Other current actions being worked on include seeking ISO 50001 accreditation for energy management systems; assessing and reducing waste to landfill; maturing and reporting ESG KPIs in its annual review of remuneration benchmarking and awards.
Professor Dame Julia King, senior independent director and chair of the company’s ESG committee, said: "A year on from our last report and world average temperatures continue to hit new highs, reinforcing the growing urgency for action to tackle climate change.
“Ceres' technology sits right at the heart of the global energy transition, and we also recognise the importance of building sustainability and resilience into how we do business.
“This report sets out how - with consideration for all our stakeholders - we continue to evolve our thinking and processes to be robust in an uncertain future."
