Gamelancer Media Corp. (TSX:VRTS, OTCQB:GAMGF) has rebranded itself as Vertiqal Studios, drawing inspiration for its new name from the fact that popular social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram display vertical video content.
“Everything that exists on TikTok, Instagram Reels and Snapchat Discovery is going to be 16 by 9 vertical video, so all the video that we shoot and all the video that we distribute is technically vertical,” the company’s CEO Jon Dwyer told Proactive in an interview.
“So Vertiqal Studios made a lot of sense.”
Dwyer highlighted that through its in-house production house, Vertiqal Studios can produce everything from a feature-length film to a 15-second TikTok which can be distributed across its network of 66 gaming-focused owned-and-operated channels to 44 million subscribers, of whom 69% live in the United States.
He added that the rebrand is also aimed at communicating to the market that the company is about more than just gaming.
“It also really sets up the company for this transition in the United States because new eyes will be on the company as well,” he said.
“We are working with all of these massive U.S. brands right now, you can go and see it on our channels, and so for us, this adaptation and this re-architecting of our narrative is about where demand lies.”
