Fisker Inc (NYSE:FSR) told investors it plans to raise $150 million in ‘growth capital’ from an existing institutional investor so it can accelerate deliveries, expand growth and expedite its vehicle programs.
The electric vehicle (EV) start-up said a recent amendment to its securities purchase agreement means it can still raise up to $550 million in additional gross proceeds. The notes carry an original issue discount of roughly 12%.
After trading 4% lower premarket following the announcement, the company’s shares rose 3.5% to $6.62 in early Friday trading.
The new investment round follows a previously announced convertible notes offering of $340 million in July to the investor, who Fisker didn't name.
The company noted that it started deliveries of its first vehicle, the all-electric Fisker Ocean SUV in both the US and Europe earlier this year, after a successful production launch in November of 2022.
In August, it presented its vision for future products, including the Fisker PEAR crossover, the Fisker Alaska pickup truck, the Fisker Ronin super GT convertible, and Fisker Force-E offroad package for the Ocean SUV.
