VR Resources Ltd (TSX-V:VRR, OTCQB:VRRCF) said its three-hole first pass drill program into the kimberlite breccia pipe complex at its Northway property in northern Ontario has identified micro-diamonds in two of the drill holes.
The company earlier this month reported that a micro-diamond had been retrieved from drill hole NW22-001, and on Thursday said additional micro-diamonds were recovered at two separate intervals within drill hole NW23-003.
A plus 106 micron micro-diamond was recovered a 335 metres (m), with three plus 75 micron micro-diamonds found from 488m to 510m.
It noted that all four of the micro-diamonds found in hole 003 were the same as the one found in hole 001, being transparent, colorless, clear, free of inclusions, and a fragment of a larger diamond.
The company’s CEO, Dr. Michael Gunning, described the drill results as “really quite something.”
“Northway has produced micro-diamonds in two of the first three reconnaissance drill holes ever put into the large breccia pipe complex, and more, both holes are arguably yet incomplete in terms of their vertical and lateral transect of the kimberlite,” he said in a statement.
“The results from the first three reconnaissance holes underscore the diamond potential at Northway in relation to the sheer volume of the breccia pipe complex itself, and in relation to the number of targets around it, never previously explored or drilled and potentially representing a new field of Devonian-aged, diamondiferous kimberlite pipes in the northern Superior craton in northern Ontario, and located along the Ontario Northern railroad.”
