Taylor Swift is selling out stadiums without even being billed to perform her music.
After her appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City last weekend to support Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, whom Swift is reportedly dating, there has been an uptick in interest for Chiefs tickets.
The next Chiefs game is against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, October 1, and Swift fans are hoping the popstar will make an appearance at the game considering she is on break from her Eras tour until November and lives nearby in New York City.
According to a StubHub spokesperson: "Since Swift's appearance at the Chiefs game on Sunday, the Jets have sold more tickets for their game against the Chiefs in a single day since the season started by more than double.”
“StubHub has seen a nearly three times increase in sales in a 24-hour window for Chiefs' home games compared to each of the few days prior,” the spokesperson added.
Kelce’s link to Swift has also caused demand for his jerseys to skyrocket, overtaking teammate Patrick Mahomes for the first time, according to an analysis by Replay Poker.
Demand for Kelce jerseys was 2,000% higher than that for Mahomes, with searches for “Travis Kelce jersey” jumping 1,267% worldwide on September 26, two days after Swift’s appearance at the Chiefs game, compared to the last seven days.
Searches for Chiefs jerseys and tickets also surged by 1,974% and 1,853% respectively, Replay Poker found.
“Swift has over 273 million followers on Instagram alone, around 88 times that of Kelce, demonstrating just how powerful her fandom is and how it can cause record-breaking search increases,” a Replay Poker spokesperson said.
“This could result in ticket prices for Chiefs’ games skyrocketing as fans clamor to catch a glimpse of the budding couple together, and could well raise the profile of Kelce and his teammates to new heights.”
