Progressive Planet reports higher gross margins during fiscal 1Q

Progressive Planet Solutions Inc (TSX-V:PLAN) said it increased its gross margin for its base business by 3.1% year-over-year from 23.5% to 26.6% in the first quarter of fiscal 2024.

The Kamloops, British Columbia-based CleanTech solutions firm reported revenue of $4.93 million, compared to $5.03 million in the year-ago quarter.

Its net loss for 1Q was $0.49 million, which included $0.23 million in research and development expenditures and $0.23 million in share-based compensation.

Operational highlights from the quarter included the finalization of a sales off-take agreement with Lafarge Canada for all the anticipated production from its PozGlass pilot plant and a reorder from pet brand Wundercat which is expected to add $1.2 million in new annual revenues.

"Progressive Planet replaced the ultra-low margin business strategically discontinued in fiscal 2023 from large retail customers and is making more for the same efforts," Progressive Planet CEO Steve Harpur said in a statement.

"With two unused credit facilities totalling $3.21 million at the quarter ended July 31, 2023, we are in a good position to bridge any short-term operating cash constraints and fund growth in the short-term without raising new equity as we move forward into historically stronger quarters."
