Entertainment stocks traded positively in Monday’s early deals, spurred by news that Hollywood writers said they have reached a “tentative” deal that promises to end the 146-day strike that has brought content production to a standstill.
TV and movie studios Paramount Global (NASDAQ:PARA) and Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:WBD) were up 3.5% and 4% respectively, at $13.09 and $11.54.
Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) rose nearly 1% to $383.36.
Whilst cinema operator AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC) gained 1.7%, to $7.75.
Elsewhere, Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares were slightly higher, up 0.6% at $129.90, after the big-tech firm backed OpenAI rival Anthropic with a $4bn investment.
Manchester United Plc (NYSE:MANU) shares were priced positively in Monday’s premarket as fresh speculation surfaced over the weekend that the takeover process could be rekindled. At US$19.03 per share, the football club’s New York-listed stock was up 2.4% ahead of Monday’s open.
